Physician Assistant Donald Stevenson joined our practice after retiring from the Army after 22 years of service. In 2006, Don completed his Bachelor of Science degree and in 2007 completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to completing his graduate work, Don served as a combat medic as well as a pharmacy technician. His previous assignments in the military included serving in Hawaii, Germany, Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky. He has also deployed to Hungary, Kosovo, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

In his first 3 years as a physician assistant Don worked at Schofield Barracks on the Island of Oahu. During this time he spent one year deployed in Afghanistan. While deployed, Don also was an adjunct professor for the University of Maryland University College teaching Human Biology as well as Anatomy and Physiology I & II to deployed soldiers.

In 2010, Don and his family moved from Hawaii to San Antonio. While stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Don served as a supervisor for his assigned combat medic training team. To keep his medical skills sharp, Don also worked at a very busy urgent care clinic here in San Antonio while preparing for retirement. Don is trained to perform minor surgeries, trigger point injections, joint injections, bursa injections, and Botox injections.

Don is certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. He is a member of the following medical organizations: American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA).

Don has two wonderful daughters, Alyssa and Hailey.
